First Annual Great Northern Medieval Fayre & ASME Ontario
Trebuchet Competition

Saturday, June 5th - 2 pm to Close
(Sunday if it's rotten out, but the sun will shine!)

Our first Annual Trebuchet Competition is open to Students of all ages, Kids and Adults, Individuals and Groups and Businesses. There will be prizes and the top three winners get a trophy. Best of all, contestants get to fling stuff like cabbage! The rest of us will have to settle for watching...

Not sure what a Trebuchet is? That's OK. If you like to build things and to compete, it's easy enough to learn.

Some of the highlights / more important aspects are:

1. The throwing arm must be made of natural wood, a minimum 2 x 6 plank, no more than 10 feet long, oriented with the 6 inch side vertical. Any holes must be a minimum 1.0 inch diameter.
2. The maximum height from the ground to the pivot point is 6 feet.
3. The counterweight is to be no more than 75 pounds
4. The projectile will be cabbage, weighing approximately 3 pounds. We though it was kind of appropriate to be throwing cabbage at a Medieval Fayre.
5. The maximum distance the Trebuchet should throw is 150 feet.
6. Accuracy targets will be set up at 50 feet and then every 25 feet thereafter up to 150 feet.

Home built Trebuchet - shows what it is and how it works!
