Annual Great Northern Medieval Fayre
ASME Trebuchet Competition 2011

Build your own Trebuchet and Outsmash the Competition!

Our first Annual Trebuchet Competition is open to Students of all ages, Kids and Adults, Individuals, Groups and Businesses in the 2011 Fayre. There will be prizes and the top three winners get a trophy. Best of all, contestants get to fling stuff like cabbage! The rest of us will have to settle for watching...

Not sure what a Trebuchet is? That's OK. If you like to build things and to compete, it's easy enough to learn.

Some of the highlights / more important aspects are:

• The projectile will be cabbage, weighing approximately 3 pounds. We though it was kind of appropriate to be throwing cabbage at a Medieval Fayre.
The maximum distance the Trebuchet should throw is 150 feet.
Accuracy targets will be set up at 50 feet and then every 25 feet thereafter up to 150 feet.

Home built Trebuchet - shows what it is and how it works!
