Feature Presentation: Boeing Canada

Speaker: Mr. Harry Peterson
Vice-President Boeing Integrated Defense Systems – Canada

H.W. “Pete” Peterson is the Canada country director and vice president for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems (IDS), one of the world's largest space and defense businesses.  Based in Ottawa, he oversees the strategic planning and business development activities for Boeing’s defense products and services to the Canadian Government.  He is responsible for the operation of the Boeing Ottawa office, with focus on government relations and customer satisfaction.  

Previously, Mr. Peterson was the director of 737 airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) Business Development, and the capture team leader for a successful Korean 737 AEW&C campaign.  Prior to this assignment, he managed the North Asian business development and he also led sales activities into Korea, China, Japan and Singapore.  He also provided leadership for business development activities for Maritime Patrol and Airborne Antisubmarine Warfare programs including the airborne warning and control system (AWACS) product line.  In addition, Mr. Peterson has performed systems engineering for several Boeing defense programs.  His career at Boeing began in 1979 with Commercial Airplanes as a Flight Operations Engineer for customer airlines located in the United Kingdom and West Africa.  

Mr. Peterson also served 27 years of active and reserve service with the United States Navy.  He was a Naval Aviator primarily flying variants of the P-3 aircraft.  A native of St. Louis, Missouri, he holds an Aerospace Engineering degree from the University of Illinois, and he is married with one son.  He is active in Boy Scouting and Little League baseball.

Dr. Edward Lemaire
Associate Professor, University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine

Edward Lemaire, PhD hold a number of appointments, including Research Associate at the Institute for Rehabilitation Research and Development (The Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre), Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, and Adjunct Professor with the University of Ottawa School of Human Kinetics and University of Waterloo, Systems Design Engineering. Edward Lemaire is also active with the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) as the past president of ISPO Canada, chairman of the ISPO 2007 World Congress, and leader of the ISPO e-Learning initiative. In addition to 20 years of research and development work in the area of prosthetics and orthotics, Dr. Lemaire has been extensively involved with the evolution of telehealth for clinical service and continuing education.
